What I'm working on.

To get some fresh ideas, I stopped in at the Boise library last week. Even though it's full of people that make me feel uncomfortable, I love that old place. I got a bunch of fabulous books.

These are the two that I have started reading, so far they're awesome. I don't know why Mona Brookes' books were never required for me in college, even in the art methods class for elementary teaching. So weird. It's so helpful for children of all ages and she's been an art educator forever. I'll post ideas I got from that book soon. Betty Edwards also wrote Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, which is a really good book too but the Artist Within presents a new and interesting viewpoint.

I signed up for a sketchbook contest that I'm thrilled about. I paid $25 and chose a theme (make mine a double), they send me the sketchbook, I have to have the whole thing completed and sent back by January 15th and all the sketchbooks go on a exhibition tour around the country. All sketchbooks end up in the Brooklyn Art Library where they stay for the public to view. It's so cool.

And finally...
I discovered a brilliant artist. His name is Marc Johns. I don't know what took me so long to find him.
